The Old Rock,
It Lies

Scroll to read   ↓

It lies still through the passage of time.

It lies on stable ground modestly affected by erosion, Trees come and go, and yet the old rock is still in place.

It lies barely affected by the corporate elements.

It lies and at times will roll over soil that accumulates.

It lies and stands over the pebbles lodged in the ground.

It lies over boulders that can shift its placement.

It lies in an earthquake.

It lies for over two scorns.

It lies, not allowing the ocean to turn it into sand.

It lies even when the ocean calls its name.

It lies like the old rock it is, And will lie until time puts it to rest in the soil, Like all stone before and after it.
